Prepaid Electricity

The cost for prepaid conversion is R600-00 which includes a once-off nonrefundable payment for the keypad and an R100-00 electricity voucher.

The person who made the payment takes ownership of the keypad (CIU).

The smart meter outside in the kiosks will remain the property of Impact meters.

Original applications have to be handed in at any of our offices with supporting documentation or emailed to [email protected].

New accounts

Prepaid conversion will be done within 3-6 weeks after the application and payment has been received subject to availability. Customers that still have old mechanical or electronic meters must open a conventional account until such time a new smart meter is installed. We will require a minimum deposit, which will be refunded back to the client after installation of the new meter and the account has been finalised.

Existing accounts

A new account will be opened for clients converting to prepaid meters. The existing accounts' deposit will be credited and refunded. Please supply us with certified banking details.

Existing smart meter accounts

Buildings that already have smart meters installed will not take 3-6 weeks to convert to a prepaid meter. This is done as soon as the customer pays the R600.00 and necessary prepaid document has been completed and captured.

In all instances where Impact Meter Services manages water at the complex, a minimum deposit is required. Where applicable, a separate monthly account is sent for the water and sanitation usage.

The tariff per unit for prepaid and conventional is the same as determined by the local supply authority. A vending fee will be charged per transaction. Prepaid credit tokens and credits loaded on the meter are non-refundable.
The keypad purchased will also be non-refundable and has a 1-year warranty.

NB! Once you have prepaid installed, you may not change back to conventional metering within the first 12 months from the date of prepaid installation.

Only one token purchase option is available:

Prepaid can be bought at

UniPIN outlets eg. garage, Spar, Internet Banking etc. This option has a convenience fee deducted on total purchase for each transaction.
